Qualifications/requirements include: 

  • Currently enrolled in a University Kinesiology program
  • Possess Standard First Aid & CPR prior to beginning work
  • Possession of a CPT (ie. CSEP-CPT) would be an asset
  • 0-1 years of experience working with athletes 
  • Able to attend APT & Varsity Training Sessions from April 27th  until September 5th  inclusive (week prior must be available for staff training)
  • o Time off will be granted only for extenuating circumstances
  • o Groups will generally be afternoon from April 27th – June 26th (weekdays w/ some weekends required)
  • o Mornings may be required from June 29th – September 5th  
  • Assist in the setup and cleaning of the High Performance Centre
  • Assist in the coaching and demonstration of warmup and preparation activities
  • Assist in the coaching and demonstration of speed, agility and plyometric drills
  • Assist in the coaching and demonstration of explosive and Olympic lifting movements
  • Assist in the coaching and demonstration of strength exercises
  • Assist in the coaching and demonstration of core/mobility exercises
  • Desire to learn and recognize poor movement patterns and how to apply proper regressions/lateralization’s

Tasks/responsibilities include: 

  • Volunteer with assistant S&C coach to lead athletes through S&C sessions
  • Attend weekly meetings, Monday at noon 
  • Desire to learn how to progress & regress athletes based on their abilities
  • Desire to learn the APT system, and how to apply it
  • Attend weekly staff meetings 
  • Engage in weekly professional development meetings about best practices and/or current research
  • Present a topic during PD meetings as per required
  • Assist in the cleaning/maintenance of the High Performance Centre
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned by either the Manager of Sports Performance, or APT Coordinator

 Remuneration: $1000 for the completion of the spring & summer
