Exercise Intervention & Research CentreTechnologist

Hourly Rate: $27.47 + 4% in lieu of vacation
Hours/Week: 24 hours / week

The Exercise Intervention & Research Centre (EIRC) at Davis Campus – Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies is currently seeking a Part Time Technologist (Technologist II) to join our dynamic team. The technologist will be directly involved with servicing of performance training and testing programs, wellness initiatives, practical research and scholarly initiatives, varsity athlete training, and other community partnership programs and initiatives.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology or related program
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (NSCA-CSCS)
  • A minimum of 2-years of related experience developing team and individualised exercise prescription and strength and conditioning training
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building and networking skills
  • Must be able to encourage and motivate students and clients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative professional environment
  • A flexible schedule to accommodate the demands of the programs

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the curriculum delivery and research projects for the Kinesiology and Health Promotion program
  • In collaboration with the program faculty create, implement and maintain a thriving student internship program
  • Support work study students in developing and implementing performance-training services to varsity athletes and a broad spectrum of clients
  • Work closely with faculty members in assisting and strategizing ways to improve community partner relationships, social media presence and community engagement
  • Improve efficiency and utilization of the Kinesiology and Health Promotion program spaces
  • Ensure regular equipment maintenance for Kinesiology and Health Promotion program
  • Lead workshops, group discussion sessions and programing debriefs in support of applied learning approach for Kinesiology and Health Promotion interns
  • Under the direction of the Kinesiology and Health Promotion faculty members and the Operations Manager, Clinics and Labs, assist in identifying, planning, executing and maintaining  strategic partnerships
