As part of ongoing work towards inclusive excellence, McMaster Athletics and Recreation department is pleased to offer recent graduates who identify as Black the opportunity to apply for 2 one-year paid internships beginning in May and/or September 2022.
Purpose of Internships
The internship positions are designed to provide valuable work experience to qualified recent graduates that have an interest in pursuing a career within athletics and recreation with a goal of increasing representation within the department by those who identify as Black. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to build professional networks and expand career skills while exploring potential career paths within Athletics and Recreation. The internship will provide exposure to many aspects of the department including marketing and communications; human resources; alumni and community engagement as well as athlete services, coaching, fitness programming and sports club coordination.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for individuals with good organisational and interpersonal skills to support Athletics and Recreation by leading, coordinating, administering and supporting existing programs and services. Every effort will be made to develop a bespoke job description for each intern, which aligns with their interests and career ambition, as well as current departmental needs (camps, marketing and communications).
Eligibility
In order to apply for this internship you must meet all of the following criteria:
• Have graduated from a Canadian University within the last 3 years
• Be eligible to work in Canada
• Identify as Black
• Have an interest in pursuing a career in Athletics and Recreation
All candidates who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply but preference will be given to McMaster graduates.

It is anticipated that the internships will be in person on McMaster’s main campus, however a hybrid work environment (virtual and in person) is also offered as we continue to work within the current provincial COVID guidelines.
