Duties and Responsibilities

The lead, strength and conditioning coach will work collaboratively as a part of Carleton Universities strength and conditioning staff to provide strength and conditioning support to Carleton Universities student athletes. Similarly, this position will be responsible for recruitment and delivery of athletic performance services to community partners (sport clubs, organizations, and teams), as well as leading the planning of existing youth development programs and camps.

Qualifications

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
Knowledge of the strength and conditioning requirements and programming requirements required for success in university sport
Knowledge of long-term athlete development, and strength and conditioning requirements for youth/developing athletes
Strong technical and practical experience in performance coaching
Proven ability to work collaboratively with coaches and support staff (athletic therapy, mental performance, nutrition, administration) to optimize athlete performance, health and wellness
Understanding of the use and application of sport performance technology and data collection/management to inform performance decisions and evaluate training outcomes
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability adapt to a dynamic fast paced environment
Strong communication skills
Strong computer skills and competencies with spreadsheets and office suite

Education and Experience

Undergraduate degree in sport performance, kinesiology or related field
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA)
First Aid/CPR certification
Masters degree in sport science or sport performance discipline preferred
2-5 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach
Experience working in a competitive sport environment and with youth and development athlete populations
Experience working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
Experience as an athlete at the National, Provincial or University level considered an asset

CONTRACT RENUMERATION:
Salary: $50,000-$55,000

*Note flexible work hours including evenings and weekends according to program needs will be required
