The Role
Under the direction of the Manager, High Performance the Strength and Conditioning Specialist
designs and delivers high quality, challenging, specialized physical fitness classes to unit personnel. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist conducts unit physical fitness evaluations and exercise prescriptions in accordance with Canadian Forces (CF) policies and procedures. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist assists with the conduct of laboratory and other advanced physical fitness evaluations for unit personnel, as required. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist also assists with the development of unique individual and collective training programs based upon evaluation results.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field AND some years of experience in physical fitness administration, physical fitness evaluation, or a related field.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field AND several years experience in physical fitness administration, physical fitness evaluation, or a related field.
AND
Current Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditional (CSCS) certification
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
Cooper Test or other Unit specific physical fitness standards, as required
Experience Requirements
- In conducting physical fitness programs
- In designing individual and group strength and conditioning programs for elite level personnel
- In physical fitness evaluation of personnel
- In conducting advance exercise testing and prescription
- In designing and delivering specialized fitness training programs to enhance physical performance
- In personnel administration
- In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
